Mulalley have been supporting 13 students from Brooke 6th Form with their Foundation T Levels Programme
As part of our Social Value activities on behalf of our client Be First, Mulalley have been working to support 13 students from Brooke 6th Form in Barking and Dagenham with their Foundation T Levels Programme. The programme gives students interested in a construction based career an opportunity to experience some of what a real job in construction can entail. The programme is split into two parts, with part one focusing on presentations and discussions around career routes into construction, Q&A with some of our existing apprentices, a site visit to a community asset location to see where they’ll be working and completion of 7 health and safety courses to get them work ready.
Students completed accredited training in asbestos awareness, health and Safety awareness, manual handling, safe work at heights, fire safety, COSHH and one of our health and safety advisors provided face fit testing to show the importance of correct mask wearing. All the students passed their courses with flying colours and are now ready to start part 2 of our programme which will be the redecoration of Oxlow Lane Baptist Church Community Hall. This part of the programme will involve learning about protecting surfaces by adequate preparation, correct PPE, training in painting and decorating techniques, snagging and then hand over of completed works. All students that complete the programme are guaranteed interviews for any apprentice vacancies Mulalley currently has available and issued a reference they can use for other job applications.
Amber Perrier – Mulalley Social Value Officer said: “This has been an exciting week as this is the first T-Level programme we have run, this pilot will be replicated across our work streams for other clients. The students were excellent for the entire week, asking informed questions and really engaging with our health and safety trainers and presenters. We’re looking forward to part 2 of the programme and giving a local community venue a much needed makeover.”
John Moore - Mulalley Managing Director of New Build said: “Mulalley was delighted to be one of the first contractors working in Barking and Dagenham to support the new T-Levels qualifications, we believe it’s vitally important that all students are given the best opportunities to fulfil their potential and T-Levels provide another important route for students to do that. We’re looking forward to having the students back for part 2 of the programme which will benefit not just the students but a great community partner based in the borough.”
Mulalley is currently working in London Borough of Barking and Dagenham on two new build developments at Oxlow Lane and Woodward Road on behalf of Be First Regeneration Limited, with this event forming part of a wider social value engagement plan by Mulalley.
