Requirement

This year’s Epsom Derby has been marked as one of the official celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The annual event shows one of the largest races in England with around 130,000 spectators.

As long-standing clients, The Jockey Club required a number of units from Wernick Events. The client needed cabins, stores, ticket offices and toilets to be installed across the whole site.

For 2022, they requested a new setup for police use. Usually, the client requests a double cabin set up with a balcony on top, but as this year is a royal celebration, the attendance was higher, so their needs were different from previous years.

Solution

Per The Jockey Club’s request, Wernick Events were able to provide the required equipment which included 74 cabins, stores, and ticket offices as well as 25 toilets.

Due to the high demand for the equipment needed, the events team cross-hired over 300 elements of kit such as mobile toilets, fencing and water and waste management systems. All work was done through one point of contact, saving the client the extra burden of hiring from multiple companies.

For this year’s new police setup, Wernick Events had a double-stacked unit specifically built for the client. Features included a large platform area on top of the cabins with a specific staircase situated at the side. With the help of external businesses and the Wernick Buildings Design Department, they were able to create a build that would not only look impressive but most importantly, be safe for use.
