REQUIREMENT
When Universal Tankers moved into a new premises in Coatbridge, they decided to invest in a new building to serve as a central hub for their Scottish operations.
The old ‘joined-together’ modular office buildings and outside cabins for workshop operatives were an uncomfortable environment for staff, and they did not project the desired image for visitors.
Universal Tankers have a 10-year lease on the site, they therefore preferred a temporary building solution as it would allow for relocation of the building in the future.
For the first time at this location, all staff members would be under one roof – but office and workshop staff would need separate entrances and facilities.
SOLUTION
The client approached Wernick as a relationship was already in place – Universal Tankers provide a waste water service to Wernick Hire Ltd. After discussing their budget with Wernick, the client opted for a refurbished building solution.
Wernick then supplied detailed drawings and paperwork to obtain a building warrant (Scottish regulations) before work could commence.
Wernick Refurbished Buildings utilise the steel frames of used modular buildings, while the interior fit-out is brand new. Recycling old buildings means that cost savings are passed onto the customer.
The client chose from a range of interior and exterior finishes to suit company aesthetics. Working together with Wernick they achieved the finish they needed ready for an open day just 10 weeks after work started.
CLIENT COMMENTS
Toby Gunn, Universal Tanker Group Managing Director said: “Wernick supplied a premium product for our budget, we have been really impressed with the high spec of the building.”
Linda Hunter, Universal Tanker Group Operations Manager said: “The new building is open, light, and airy. It’s pretty amazing actually – just a great place to be.”
