Requirement

Welsh Water required a new spillway on the lower side of the Lluest-Wen Reservoir. The new spillway would avoid potential overspills and allow the water to run down the lower stream for treatment before serving the communities within Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) were awarded the contract to carry out these works and were looking for suitable accommodation which was environmentally friendly and suitable for use at a remote site.

Solution

Continuing their long-term working relationship, MMB approached Wernick Hire to deliver suitable site accommodation.

MMB is a company that cares about the built and natural environment and minimising its impact, this made finding a sustainable accommodation solution paramount. They chose GreenSpace® Units as they are packed with energy-saving features which help reduce carbon emissions. These include double-glazed windows, low wattage LED lighting and sensors, thermostat temperature sensors, heavy-duty door closers to retain heat and a high level of insulation in floors, walls and ceilings.

The high-quality anti-vandal units consisted of 10 cabins, 3 linked on one side with 4 opposite and include office areas, canteen, toilets, drying rooms and meeting rooms.
