Celebrating 50 years at Springfield
We at Springfield are so proud to announce that this year we have reached the 50th anniversary of our business.
We will be celebrating throughout the year with a series of articles and updates to honor everyone involved in helping us reach this milestone.
A Brief History
Our success story began with a conversation between friends, working together as joiners for a caravan manufacturer.
With big ideas and a push from upcoming redundancy, the pair went into business for themselves.
1973
50 years ago, Springfield was started by Ken Britner and his business partner manufacturing caravans in St Helens.
From here the business expanded into stackable jackleg and wheeled units. With the first few portable cabins marking the sign of the business Springfield was to become.
1978 – 2011
Growth saw the company moving into a bigger St Helens site. This site also growing to 3 units.
Ken bought his partner’s shares in the business, giving him full control.
2011 – Present
Further growth saw the company move to a larger space with Ken stepping down and handing the reins to his daughter Lyndsey.
Ken sadly passed away in 2019, leaving an amazing legacy behind him.
