Wernick Construction MD Awarded ICE Fellowship

By Wernick Buildings Limited in Industry News

Congratulations to Wernick Construction MD Ben Wernick who, after six years as a member, successfully applied to become a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Fellowship is the highest grade of membership in the institution, recognising a high level of knowledge, ability and experience – fellows are required to demonstrate their contribution to the profession and are well respected in the industry for their expertise.

The ICE is the worlds first professional engineering body. Last year it celebrated its 200 year anniversary.

It promotes and supports the civil engineering profession via training and qualifications, setting standards and liaising with government, academia and industry.

ICE boasts over 92,000 members in over 150 countries only 6% of which are Fellows.

The application was an challenging one, requiring CPD records, sponsorship and justification from three current Fellows, a detailed report, an expanded CV – all of which was interrogated by a five member strong Fellowship panel.

Fellows are invited to share insights from their areas of interest via panels, events and online discussions.

Ben is already a professional reviewer, and has agreed to run a number of CPD lunchtime webinars to ICE members.

He has also been approached to join a steering committee guiding Swansea University’s new MSc programme in Engineering Leadership and Management.

Ben commented: “It is an honour to be recognised by my peers as an ICE Fellow. I’m very much looking forward to the opportunities available to me and to the company.”
