Positive Progress at the Active Office

The Active Office at Swansea Universitys Bay Campus aims to prove that large, public buildings can generate their own power, and more, using accessible technology.

SPECIFIC, an innovation and knowledge centre, designed the concept of "buildings as power stations". After six months the building is on track to produce more power than it uses.

SPECIFIC, backed by the Welsh Government, chose a "fabric-first approach to reducing energy consumption” - a modular solution offered them the thermal performance required against a challenging programme and budget.
