Get to know David a little better…
Can you tell us about your career history?
My career within the industry started back in 2004 when I joined Hewden Plant Hire, and since 2009, I’ve been working in site accommodation sales and hire businesses. More recently, I worked at a Scottish-based container company, where I frequently purchased from Cleveland Containers. I found Cleveland to be consistently easy to work with, always having stock available and offering competitive prices.
Overall, my career journey has provided me with valuable industry knowledge and expertise, particularly in the realm of shipping containers, conversions, and cabins. I look forward to utilising my experience and continuing to contribute to the success of Cleveland as it further expands into Scotland.
How do you feel about joining Cleveland?
I am thrilled to be joining Cleveland. In the world of containers and site accommodation, Cleveland is the company you want to work for. One of the key reasons I was attracted to Cleveland is its strong and positive company culture, coupled with the company's impressive growth. Cleveland has established itself as a leader with a solid brand reputation, particularly in areas such as customer service, aftersales support, and maintaining a high level of professionalism. Having the support of all departments will be invaluable.
What will your new role consist of?
In my new role as the National Account Manager for Scotland, my responsibilities will primarily revolve around the sale of containers and container conversions, along with developing relationships with our Scottish customers. Additionally, I will be involved in the hiring process and fulfilling any other requirements that my customers may have. Being based in Scotland and working within the territory, I will be more than just a voice at the end of the phone, actively engaging with clients and providing personalised support.
What are you excited to achieve in your new role?
I am thrilled about the opportunity to focus on sales and engage in activities such as meeting customers, establishing and nurturing relationships, and strengthening the presence of the Cleveland brand in Scotland. I am particularly excited about the prospect of working with a talented team of account managers, including some I have worked with in previous roles, such as David Burns and Adam Pearce who are National Account Managers for Cleveland Hire in the North and South respectively. I believe together we can really make an impact and contribute to the collective success of the company.
How have you found your first few days?
My first few days at the company have been quite busy, yet positive and productive.
The onboarding process has been impressive as I’ve been introduced to a lot of information during a well-structured induction program. Moreover, I have found the team to be extremely welcoming and helpful, everyone is clearly passionate about the business.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy globe-trotting with my wife, visiting European cities especially, and day-to-day, I enjoy running and being an avid watcher of motorsports.
