S Jones Conversions powers up for new Centrax project
Container conversion specialist S Jones Containers has secured another contract for Centrax Gas Turbines to create a bespoke high specification switchgear unit to house fire suppression system control equipment.
Centrax, which specialises in delivering complete power generation solutions to suit a wide range of industries and power applications all over the world, designs and manufactures high-efficiency power generation, plug and play packages using Siemens Energy gas turbine technology. Over the next few months, S Jones Conversions, the specialist division of S Jones Containers, will be working closely with Centrax to deliver a new switchgear enclosure which will be manufactured from a specially converted 40 ft shipping container.
Once complete, the unit will be divided into two sections - one to house switchgear equipment and the other to house compressor equipment - creating a robust and safe solution, ensuring uninterrupted supply of fire suppression products in the event of critical failure of gas turbine equipment. The unit, which has been universally designed to suit different applications, will be fitted with forced air cooling systems. The switchroom compartment will have a suspended structural floor, sub floor cable ways and the interior will be clad with a fire rated insulated lining.
This is the second time Centrax has looked to S Jones Conversions for specialist support having previously commissioned the team to custom build three shipping containers to house system upgrade machinery and equipment for a project in Croatia. Assembly and testing of the units took place at the Centrax headquarters in the UK and were shipped ready for installation – saving time at site and minimising disruption for the end customer.
