Women in Construction Week and International Women's Day 2025 : A Tribute to Empowerment and Progress
Women in Construction Week and International Women's Day 2025 serves as a powerful reminder of the significant contributions women have made and continue to make within the construction industry.
It is a time to reflect on the progress achieved, acknowledge the challenges still faced and celebrate the remarkable women whose hard work and dedication are paving the way for future generations.
When it comes to inspirational women in construction, our Chief Executive – Jackie Maginnis was certainly ahead of her time. Not only as a high-profile woman at the helm of a construction Trade Association but also being pivotal to promoting the benefits of factory manufactured buildings.
Starting her working life in construction over 50 years ago, Jackie held various positions, but it was her involvement in product design and development of modular buildings that caught the attention of the Modular and Portable Building Association (MPBA). In 2005 she was invited to take up the position of Chief Executive – a role she still proudly holds today.
Women in Construction Week acknowledges these trailblazers – engineers, architects, project managers and many other construction professionals who have not only proved their skills but have also transformed the industry through their perspectives and innovative approaches.
The week also acknowledges the importance of mentorship and networking. By amplifying the stories of women who have found success, we inspire the next generation of female construction professionals. Women thinking of entering the field today can look at role models such as Jackie and feel motivated to join the industry.
As we at the MPBA celebrate Women in Construction Week, we are reminded of the incredible contributions of women who are changing the construction landscape, breaking down barriers, and setting the stage for a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Their achievements deserve to be celebrated, and their stories inspire us all to continue working towards an industry that is welcoming, equal and diverse.
Here’s to the women in construction – past and present. Your hard work, resilience, and determination will continue to shape the future for generations to come.
