Integra secures fourth ISO certification as it sets the standard for modular construction

Modular construction firm Integra Buildings has received coveted ISO 19650 certification as a Lead Appointed Party – seen as the gold standard for Building Information Modelling (BIM).

ISO 19650 is an international series of standards for managing information over the entire lifecycle of a building.

As a Lead Appointed Party, the certification recognises Integra’s expertise in BIM, covering construction, design management and project management, in line with BS EN ISO 19650-2:2018 including the UK National Annex standards.

Using Building Information Modelling (BIM), the ISO focuses on increased collaboration with the client and sub-contractors throughout the project.

BIM enables better decisions to be made during the design, construction, installation and operation of a building. It brings with it efficiencies in time, cost and quality control, as well as sustainability benefits by encouraging building reusability and longevity.

It means everyone involved in the project, at every stage, has access to the latest BIM models and information, improving communication and reducing the risk of issues arising during delivery.

Integra now holds four ISO accreditations, having already been certified for 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and 9001 (Quality Management Systems).

As Integra looks to continually evolve its bespoke service to clients, holding four ISOs recognises the company’s commitment to excellence in all of its construction practices.

Carl Jones, Technical BIM Manager at Integra, said: “Securing this ISO certification underlines our reputation as a modular construction partner of choice for major clients across a broad range of sectors.

“As technology and construction processes continue to evolve, it’s important we remain at the very forefront of the industry. It enables us to tender for a wider range of projects and demonstrates to clients that in choosing Integra, they are guaranteed exceptional quality of service and delivery.

“It has taken us around a year to achieve the certification, but we know our work isn’t done. We continue to look at how we can further enhance our market proposition, and how we can take the client experience to the next level.”

BIM enables a client to see their building in 3D, in precise detail, before work on site gets underway, but is much more detailed than a traditional 3D model. It includes precise data about the properties of a building, as well as electrical systems, ventilation, heating, plumbing and more.

It further enhances Integra’s ability to provide a truly bespoke design service to clients, with a collaborative input at each stage of design development to create the layout, aesthetic and functional performance that is required.

For some projects and markets, compliance with ISO 19650-2 is a key requirement. The certification enables Integra to tender for more projects, and provides evidence supporting its capabilities to clients.

While Integra has been using BIM for its modular buildings for many years, the company has seen a recent increase in requests for modelling of its Anti Vandal (AV) products. It reflects the evolution of the construction industry, with increased focus on technologies and digitalisation in all aspects of a project.

As Integra strengthens its proposition as a multi-disciplinary, turnkey construction partner, the company has created a dedicated pre-construction team.

The team focuses on all aspects of the project before work on site gets underway, with the new ISO accreditation forming a core element of the service.

From design and planning to manufacture, installation and fit-out, Integra can manage a project at every stage, providing greater control of time, cost and quality.

Integra has also broadened its in-house capabilities by putting multiple members of its team through a series of individual ISO 19650 training, strengthening knowledge and understanding to support the continued improvement and growth of the company’s services.
