EUFA Champions Festival

The UEFA Final is a huge event in the football calendar, and this year saw over 150,000 football fans descend on Cardiff for the Championship clash between Juventus and Real Madrid.

While the UEFA final was held in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff’s City Centre, Cardiff Bay was playing host to the Champions Festival – a four day event focussed on football. Live music, VR experiences, memorabilia museums and a store, a barbershop (complete with barbershop quartet) and a number of goal scoring challenges were set up around the Bay for visitors to explore.  The event’s show-stopper however, was the Ultimate Champions Pitch – a floating football pitch moored in the Bay, where football legends and international teams battled for glory in front of the crowds.

For an event of this scale, production teams need reliable offices to organise from and quality changing spaces are required for the myriad performers and players. The production team at Silent Associates knew that Wernick Events could provide what they needed.

Production Manager, Rebecca Gentle told us; “Wernick were chosen because we knew of them from previous events, and could see they provided a high standard of equipment. Their proximity to Cardiff was also appealing, as we knew we could organise transport with ease.”

Wernick Events supplied a number of offices in various configurations; including split spaces for medical and security teams, and open plan production offices. Wernick also provided the dressing rooms for the performers on the main stage, and for the teams playing on the Ultimate Champions Pitch.

The changing rooms required installation in a slightly unusual place; underneath a footbridge in busy Cardiff Bay. In order to carry out the install, an 80tonne crane was required to lower the units down the 3m drop from the bridge.

With a busy production teams and players using their cabins, the Wernick team needed to impress. Did they succeed?

The team at Silent Associates were certainly seemed happy with Wernick Events. Rebecca commented; “We were really pleased with the cabins. Everything was great.
