The Central Housing Investment Consortium Ltd, or CHIC for short, is a consortium of Social Housing Providers that has developed the BuildSmart framework to cause a step up change in housing delivery through the promotion of Off-Site manufactured solutions.

Premier was successful following an OJEU compliant procurement process to appoint a volumetric manufacturer of new homes.  This appointment means that Premier Modular will be working with CHIC’s members to enable a step change in the delivery of new homes.

The initial contract is for a period of 5 years, with the option to extend the contract by two further 5 year periods.

CHIC already has in place professional services and contractor frameworks; however, John Fisher, the MD of CHIC, explains “CHIC has long held the belief that the quality and cost benefits of volumetric homes manufactured to factory standards is potentially a game changer for the delivery of new homes.  Standardisation and volume are key factors in consortia working together to provide a volumetric solution to the housing problemThis is a real opportunity for collaborative working to properly impact the delivery of new homes, CHIC and our partners are ready to meet the housing challenge.

Ian Astley, Regional Sales Director at Premier Modular, confirms “we are delighted to have been selected by CHIC and are keen to work with potential partners to build new homes in our factory.  The key benefits of the volumetric approach are cost certainty, programme improvement, less wastage and a reduction in health and safety risks on site.   All our homes are built to a very high standard in a quality controlled environment to ISO9001:2015 standards and each home is quality checked at every stage of the build with the aim of zero defects at handover.   We are very excited by the challenge.”

David Harris, Divisional Director at Premier Modular, commented that “this now gives our housing clients a simple and cost effective route to procurement, saving further monies and time. We believe the amalgamated volume approach driven through this appointment will provide huge value to any potential client.”
