Nixon Hire's Latest Depot Expansion Plans Begin With First Flagship Renewables Depot in Wolverhampton

By Nixon Hire in Industry News

In June this year, Nixon Hire’s first flagship Depot for renewables opened for business in Wolverhampton, creating a great spot for their West Midlands hub. This new Depot has hit the ground running with a large amount of their modern, innovative site equipment already on hire on sites in Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas.

Why did Nixon Hire choose this site for their next Depot location?

This new Depot location is a clear strategic move for Nixon Hire having already formed a strong customer base in this area, fulfilling hires from their other nearest Depots.

Continued success and investment has meant that they were able to seize the opportunity to capitalise on this and expand operations to service more customer sites in the West Midlands. The Depot, being based on the Hilton Main Industrial Estate has excellent road links making it easy for drivers to service sites in Wolverhampton and beyond.

Creating recruitment opportunities in the area

Nixon Hire have been pleased to be able to bring new opportunities for recruitment in the area. So far they have recruited eight new members of staff to work across this site including a Depot Manager, yard persons, Business Development Manager and more. Nixon Hire will continue to recruit experienced individuals as the Depot becomes established and further business is generated in the area.

What makes this Depot a flagship for renewables and why is this important for Nixon Hire?

Not only will this Depot be focused on providing customers in the area with innovative solar and battery products from their Renewables Division to power their sites but it is also showcasing their business wide eco-friendly ethos in the way the Depot itself is run.

Nixon Hire have secured a 15 year lease for the site, for which their ultimate aim is to make the ‘behind the scenes’ operations self-sufficient and carbon neutral. Solar panels are to be mounted to the roof of their large workshop roofs later this year as well as installing electric vehicle charging points and other eco technologies.

As part of their Carbon and Environmental, Social and Governance Strategy, Nixon Hire are always looking at ways they can play their part in mitigating the effects of climate change and meet their pledge to become a net zero business by 2035, with their Depot operations intrinsic to this goal.

By adding products from Nixon Hire’s renewables division to their sites, customers can expect to see huge fuel savings and reductions in carbon emissions. One Solar Smart Site customer recently reported a saving in fuel costs of over £88,000 and 176.8 tonnes less carbon emissions generated after a year on site.

As well as offering customers in the area a whole range of renewables products including battery storage units, solar smart frames and solar hybrid generators, Nixon Hire are to offer portable toilets, site accommodation units, welfare facilities and more – providing a one stop shop for site equipment to customers across Wolverhampton and the wider area.

"As a team at Wolverhampton we are enormously excited about the opening of the new Depot and opportunities that are in the area. I am looking forward to supporting both new and existing clients, especially with our innovative renewable solutions.”

Robert Hopton, Depot Manager – Wolverhampton

“It’s an exciting time for Nixon Hire - our Wolverhampton Depot is allowing us to be able to supply our excellent eco products into a wider area and to support our existing and new customers better then we have been able to previously. Wolverhampton carries the full range of eco accommodation and eco welfare, as well as our full range of renewable products including our award-winning solar hybrid generators. The new Depot has been fitted out and designed to the highest specification including the addition of a solar array being fitted to the workshop to harvest our own electric. This will set the standard of Depots across the business moving forward.”
