Family-run business, Chapel Hill Storage, uses additional barn space to house its shipping containers

By Cleveland Group in Case Study

Having officially opened in 2022, Chapel Hill Storage currently holds 18 20ft Standard One Trip Shipping Containers, with plans to expand.

Located in Thornborough, North Yorkshire, the site is easily accessible due to its proximity to the A1 and surrounding villages, Masham, Ripon, Bedale and Thirsk.

One row of containers is entirely undercover in a barn with vehicle access to the front of each of the units.

By diversifying into a self storage business, this new venture makes use of redundant buildings, providing an additional income stream for owner Holly Bourne-Arton.

After a recommendation from local self storage operator Simon Dunne at BHE Storage, Holly contacted Cleveland Containers to help set up the new site and 18 units were delivered throughout 2022. There are plans to grow the site with successful planning permission in the future.

"Opening a self storage site on Chapel Hill Farm makes great use of some of the redundant farm buildings, giving them a new purpose. Andrew at Cleveland Containers has been brilliant and made the purchase and delivery process so easy, helping me along the way. I’ve been very impressed by the skills of the hauliers who have managed to manoeuvre the containers around the barns, ready for them to be moved into their final place"
