A. Proctor Group launches RIBA approved CPD seminars

By A Proctor Group in Industry News

The A. Proctor Group, synonymous with technically advanced thermal, acoustic and membrane solutions for the construction industry, is introducing a series of technical and educational RIBA Approved CPD seminars for architects, specifiers and contractors.

The first CPD approved by RIBA is “Air Leakage and Fire Performance in Façade Systems.”

Attendees will be provided with expert technical advice by our highly qualified and experienced technical team, providing the latest guidance on British and European Standards, compliance with Building Regulations, and learn how to maximise performance and avoid potential failures.

Air Leakage and Fire Performance in Façade Systems

Iain Fairnington, Technical Director, commented, “This session provides an overview of UK and Irish building regulations relating to construction membranes’ compliance with air leakage and reaction to fire. It covers the adjacent issues of moisture control and hygrothermal assessment and the implications of air leakage strategies on energy efficiency and “as designed” vs “as built” performance.”

By the end of the session, attendees will have gained a greater understanding of:

  • Heat, Air and Moisture movement in buildings and the relevant building regulations
  • Hygrothermal Assessments, Dynamic vs Steady State methods
  • Mechanisms and effects of air leakage on building envelopes
  • Performance and location of membranes as air barriers in facade applications
  • Fire test methods, classifications and BR135
  • The relationships between hygrothermal and fire performance criteria and their implications

The CPD serves the following RIBA Core Curriculum areas:

  • Design, construction and technology
  • Legal, regulatory and statutory compliance
  • Knowledge level: General Awareness

Our expert team is available to deliver this CPD live or remotely online to suit your requirements.”

In summary, Iain Fairnington adds that “we are delighted to launch the first of our series of RIBA accredited technical seminars that will enable professionals to stay up to date with the latest standards and changes to building regulations. We aim to provide technically accurate learning based on best practices, innovation and project examples to help individuals make informed choices when specifying product solutions for their projects. Announcement of additional CPDs in the series will follow as RIBA confirms accreditation
