Trinity School Transforms Outdoor Dining with Modern Food Cube Solution from PKL
Trinity School, a secondary school with approximately 1,350 pupils, is a proud member of the Newbury Academy Trust. In addition to the secondary campus, the Trust also operates two nearby primary schools, forming a vibrant and diverse learning community in the local area.
Over the years, Trinity School developed multiple food service points to accommodate its growing student body, including a main servery, a dedicated sixth form servery, and an older, second-hand food cube. However, the latter had deteriorated significantly. Its location limited internet connectivity, and the interior conditions, cold and poorly maintained, with rotting flooring, created a subpar experience for both staff and students.
Determined to offer a more lasting and inclusive catering solution, Trinity School sought to upgrade their facilities. Their key objectives were clear: install a robust, modern unit with long-term guarantees, provide greater food variety and storage, and create an accessible, pleasant space that supported students who may find crowded dining environments overwhelming.
PKLstepped in to help Trinity School realise this vision, supplying a brand new, high-quality Food Cube designed with longevity – 15 year structural warranty and 60 year life expectancy, efficiency, and inclusivity in mind. The new unit has been thoughtfully integrated into a newly developed courtyard space, creating a peaceful, welcoming environment that offers students an alternative to the busy main dining areas, enabling them to enjoy meals in a calm, outdoor setting.
The new Food Cube also helped streamline service across campus. By alleviating pressure from the main servery, it allowed quicker access for students looking to grab drinks or snacks, cutting down queues significantly and improving the overall flow of lunchtime traffic.
Melissa Turnham, Compliance Officer at Trinity School, shared her experience:
“I have been very impressed with PKL from the beginning. They did a lovely design for us, listened to our needs, and the installation just went so smoothly. It’s quite a difficult access area, but they brought specialist people in and true to their words, it was installed within 2 hours of being on site. A very easy process.”
Melissa also highlighted the students’ enthusiasm for the new space, noting that they appreciated the broader menu options and the convenience of not having to enter the main canteen.
The introduction of the Food Cube has not only modernised Trinity School’s catering offer but also enhanced the overall lunchtime experience for staff and students alike, delivering on every goal the school set out to achieve.
