BAM begins construction of new 750-pupil school in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow
BAM has begun construction of a new 750-pupil post-primary school for Presentation De La Salle College in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, following a sod-turning ceremony attended by Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, Minister of State at the Department of Health and TD for Carlow-Kilkenny.
Presentation De La Salle is part of the three school Project Boyne Lot 2 Bundle with BAM appointed as main contractor for the bundle, which is being delivered by the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) on behalf of the Department of Education and Youth.

“At Presentation De La Salle College, we’re creating spaces that support different learning needs, encourage inclusion and give every pupil the chance to thrive. Delivering a new school while education continues around us requires careful planning and close collaboration. It’s a challenge our teams understand well, and one that makes this project particularly rewarding.”
Darren DevaneDirector of Building at BAM Ireland

The project will deliver a modern new school building, including contemporary teaching facilities, a sports hall and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) class hubs designed to support inclusive learning and student development.
Construction will take place in two phases to minimise disruption to pupils and staff, with the existing school remaining operational throughout. Once complete, the new facilities will provide modern, purpose-built spaces for teaching, learning, recreation and student wellbeing.
The project represents an important investment in the future of Presentation De La Salle College, delivering a modern learning environment that will support students, staff and the wider Bagenalstown community for generations to come.
