Morland Named Powys Business of the Year 2026
We are incredibly proud to announce that Morland has been named Powys Business of the Year 2026, after an unforgettable evening at the Powys Business Awards in Brecon.
On Friday 23 October, Morland first received the Technology & Innovation Award, sponsored by SudoCyber, before going on to receive the evening’s highest accolade, Powys Business of the Year, sponsored by Powys County Council.
The annual awards, organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group, recognise businesses and organisations from across Powys.
Recognising investment in innovation
Winning the Technology & Innovation Award is particularly significant for Morland and reflects our continued commitment to investing in technology that strengthens our manufacturing capabilities and creates new opportunities.
Central to the award was our investment in advanced automation, including our highly automated ECO2 production line. The technology has expanded what we can manufacture, enabling the production of wrapped-edge plasterboard panels and internally laminated doors, while providing significantly greater flexibility across different materials and panel thicknesses.
It has been a major project for the business, developed and implemented over the past two years with significant involvement from employees across Morland. Alongside greater manufacturing efficiency, flexibility, quality and consistency, the investment has helped our teams develop new skills in advanced manufacturing technology.
For us, innovation isn’t simply about installing new machinery. It’s about identifying opportunities, solving problems and investing in capabilities that allow us to offer more to our customers and continue developing as a UK manufacturer.
From Technology & Innovation winner to Business of the Year
Receiving the Technology & Innovation Award was already a fantastic achievement, but the evening became even more memorable when Morland was subsequently announced as Powys Business of the Year 2026.
The overall award was selected from the category winners.
Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, Ed Coomber described Morland as “a worthy standard bearer for business in Powys”,adding that the company had demonstrated excellence across all 12 areas of the Business of the Year judging criteria.
For Morland, that wider recognition is something we’re particularly proud of.
It reflects not only investment and innovation, but the many different areas that contribute to building a successful and sustainable business: looking after our customers, developing our people, supporting our community and continuing to invest for the future.
An award for the whole Morland team
Neither award would have been possible without the people behind Morland.
Our team has played an important role throughout the introduction of new technology and manufacturing processes, and that willingness to learn, adapt and keep improving is a huge part of what continues to move the business forward. The judges themselves highlighted employees’ contribution to the technology project and the new advanced manufacturing skills developed within the workforce.
Rachel Jones, Morland’s Director of Corporate Administration, said:
“This is a real surprise to us but we are thrilled to have won this award. We are very grateful to the judges.
“The staff will love winning this award. It will mean a lot to them. We are really looking forward to the company continuing to grow and let’s see what 2027 brings!”
From everyone at Morland, a huge thank you to the organisers, judges and sponsors of the Powys Business Awards, and congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and winners.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone at Morland who made this achievement possible.
We’re incredibly proud to represent Welshpool and Powys, and even more excited about what comes next.
