Select partners with the University of Hull

Select Plant Hire is proud to announce a new academic partnership with the University of Hull School of Engineering and Technology, aimed at supporting student development and driving innovation across the construction and plant hire sectors.

This collaboration will see undergraduate and postgraduate students working on real-world project scopes provided by Select Plant Hire, as part of their academic programmes. These projects are designed to address current industry challenges and explore future-focused solutions. Covering various domains, the students will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the business, from Modular Accommodation and Site Solutions to Hook Blocks and Repair and Maintenance.

Each project will span approximately a 30-week period and include a range of immersive, hands-on experiences. Students will benefit from site visits to live projects and Select depots, receive mentorship from subject matter experts within the company, and conclude their projects with a final presentation to a panel of industry professionals from Select. This structure is designed to provide students with practical insights, professional feedback, and a deeper understanding of how their academic work translates into real-world impact.

With the partnership kicking off this academic year, the first cohort of students has now received their briefs and begun exploring the early stages of their chosen projects. We look forward to seeing the creativity and innovation they bring to life as the collaboration unfolds.
