Case Study: Bespoke Modular SEND Classroom for Wyken Croft Primary School

By Elite Systems (GB) Limited in Case Study

Elite Systems has completed the delivery and installation of a new modular SEND classroom building for Wyken Croft Primary School, providing specialist teaching accommodation designed to support pupils with additional educational needs.

As demand for specialist educational provision continues to increase across the UK, schools are under growing pressure to create learning environments that better support pupils requiring additional assistance. The project at Wyken Croft Primary School was developed to provide a calm, inclusive and practical teaching environment tailored specifically to SEND learning requirements.

Designed, manufactured and installed by Elite Systems, the modular building was delivered as a full turnkey solution, including design, manufacture, groundworks and installation, following appointment through a competitive tender process.

The completed facility comprises a specialist SEND teaching classroom, dedicated breakout room and accessible WC facilities, alongside acoustic wall and ceiling treatments, large full-length windows and DDA-compliant access routes throughout the building.

The project was carefully delivered within a live primary school environment, requiring detailed planning and coordination to minimise disruption to daily school operations while maintaining safe access across the site.

The modular building was specifically designed to create a calm and supportive learning environment for pupils and staff. Acoustic treatments were integrated throughout the building to help reduce noise levels, while large full-length windows maximise natural light within teaching spaces.

The dedicated breakout room provides additional flexible space for focused learning sessions, smaller group activities and individual support work, helping the school create a more adaptable SEND teaching environment.

Using offsite modular construction methods allowed much of the building to be manufactured within Elite Systems’ controlled factory environment prior to installation, helping to reduce onsite construction activity, minimise disruption and maintain consistent build quality throughout the project.

The project also highlights the growing role of modular construction within SEND and specialist education environments, where flexibility, speed of delivery and carefully considered design features are increasingly important for schools and local authorities.

Elite Systems specialises in permanent and temporary modular buildings for schools, healthcare environments and commercial sectors across the UK, delivering bespoke offsite construction solutions tailored to individual project requirements.

“We are absolutely thrilled with our new building and it will make a real difference to the children of the school. The quality of the build is excellent and represents excellent value for money when comparing other permanent builds.”
