LRES-UK is a specialist contractor working on outages and shutdowns in Energy from Waste facilities across the UK.
When LRES-UK was appointed to carry out a four-week industrial cleaning, repair and maintenance shutdown, the company called upon us to provide a complete contractor’s village to accommodate contractors, and a range of rental equipment to enable the contract to be carried out swiftly, efficiently and sustainably.
Allerton Waste Recovery Park treats ‘black bag’ waste from households around the country, processing around 40,000 tonnes of food and organic waste each year to generate renewable energy. The facility is reducing the amount of household waste from North Yorkshire being sent to landfill by at least 90%.
The challenge
Every second counts on a project such as this, as any amount of non-budgeted downtime can run into additional costs of hundreds of thousands of pounds. Reliability, efficiency and quality of equipment were critical in ensuring the shutdown project was delivered successfully.
The solution
We provided a complete contractor’s village ensuring comfortable, energy saving welfare facilities for hundreds of contractors working at the facility during the four-week outage. This required precision planning and dialogue with the site to ensure smooth running and safe, effective installations. Our 360 solution team performed a key role in successfully co-ordinating deliveries and ensuring equipment and installations were delivered on time.
The project was carried out in three stages - comprising the installation of a marquee, a reception and registration area and lastly the main contractor’s village. We also provided a range of power, lighting and barriers and fencing solutions, including the
provision of the latest equipment enabling work to be carried out in a sustainable manner, such as hybrid tower lights. Over and above the equipment supplied for use by the client, we also used scissor lifts and a Stage V telehandler for our own installation purposes.
The result
By working in close collaboration with both LRES-UK and the site, our team ensured the contractor’s village was delivered on time, enabling contractors to commence their work as planned for the shutdown period. Our 360 solutions team also ensured the delivery of a range of rental equipment used to facilitate the cleaning, repair and maintenance work during the contract. The shutdown was carried out to plan within the strict four-week time window.
