4M was launched in 1992 by four workmates who faced redundancy from an industrial buildings company in the recession-hit early 90s. Each of the founders had an ‘M’ featuring in their Christian/surnames which led to the creation of the name 4M Portable Buildings. Later, the company was taken forward by two of the owners, Dave Morris and Kevin Morris, who built a successful business hiring out and selling portable buildings, and providing a bespoke build service for customers.
In 2019, 4M was acquired by David and Linda Grocott, owners of the Grocott Group, also based in Shropshire, and who have continued to develop the business which has included a relocation to a larger site in Prees Green, near Whitchurch to accommodate growth.
The company is led by Group Managing Director, Daniel McGowan, a property industry expert who has an impressive 25-year track record of high-level business experience having held significant leadership roles at PLC board level.
Although 4M has seen many changes and developments within the industry, it has never lost sight of its core values of delivering for customers, providing a reliable service, good value, and quality products.
After launching a self storage division in 2021, the company expanded further in 2023 when an indoor self storage facility was added in 2023.
The company celebrated its 30th anniversary year in 2023.
4M’s jack leg units are able to adapt to a customer’s specifications, making them highly adaptable. Their design allows them to be stacked, and linked (both end-to-end and side-to-side). All standard buildings are supplied with insulated walls, floor and roof, wipe-clean interior surfaces, and heavy-duty vinyl flooring. Our modular buildings offer the same versatility as all of our buildings, thus allowing buildings of indeterminable length to encompass the requirements of most customers. As a result, customers can be provided with temporary or semi-temporary buildings at half, or less, the cost of traditional buildings.
Whatever your needs 4M are sure we are able to offer a solution. As we consider ourselves custom builders to the industry making, as standard, many buildings that others would not even quote for. While we feature a number of examples (on our gallery page) examples showing folding, exhibition and traditional variations, we are happy to produce a building to suit virtually any need. Our design team thrive on the challenge posed in providing the most sophisticated accommodation requirement.
