Nottingham’s Danzer Limited, has undertaken a significant investment programme to support its growing business. The company, which manufactures steel site accommodation units and modular buildings, has invested £110,000 in a new steel production facility at its Langley Mill site. Its sister company AV Group is also investing £1.2m in refurbishing its 4000-strong fleet of hire accommodation units which are manufactured by the Danzer team in Nottingham.

The expansion programme starts this month and will see an existing building converted to provide an additional steel production line. The latest equipment will be installed including an overhead crane, gas piping system, welding equipment, spray painting facilities with full extraction and air filter systems along with all the necessary electrical work.  It is anticipated that the new facility will deliver a 50% increase in productivity in steel manufacture.

Commenting on the investment programme Danzer Director Bill Holloway said: “This significant investment reflects the overall increase in demand for our steel products especially from house builders. In December we saw a 15% growth in rental income on 2012 figures and it is a clear indication that confidence has begun to return to the construction sector. We undertook a recruitment programme at the back end of last year and we always intended to follow this with investment into the production facility in 2014.

One core growth area for the company has been sales of its steel modular product called OpenSpace, which is being commissioned by schools and colleges across the country. Commenting on this trend Bill adds: “The education sector faces huge pressure to provide high quality learning environments to a growing population and it is estimated that more than 250,000 new school places will have to be created nationally by 2014/15. We are seeing a real spike in enquiries for education facilities as modular building provides a fast, affordable and flexible route for expansion compared to traditional building methods.”

The £1.2m investment into the hire fleet will see the oldest units replaced and existing ones refurbished to ensure the highest quality standards are maintained. The investment comes after a strong performance in 2013 which saw AV Group provide on-site accommodation to construction clients including BAM UK, Wates, McLaren, Grahams, Skanska and Eric Wright Group amongst many others.

The swift growth surge has also come from house builders such as Barratt, David Wilson Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Radleigh Homes who use the firm’s steel anti-vandal cabins on development sites across the country.
