Event Hire supply Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood Festival of SpeedThe Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the major motoring events that Wernick Event Hire supply with temporary accommodation. Typically we supply all the organiser's accommodation including hospitality units, management offices, the commentary box and a medical and treatment centre.

Wernick Event Hire also has a range of event accommodation that includes toilet blocks, shower blocks and disabled facilities.

We are also able to supply temporary infrastructure equipment that includes grandstands, fencing, barriers, staging and temporary roadways, thus making our service to the event industry totally comprehensive.

Queens Jubilee

With less than 10 days to go to the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations Wernick Event Hire were offered the challenge to provide portable cabins and chemical toilets.

14 portable offices and 600 chemical toilets were provided in total for The Mall Viewing Site, St James Park Media Compound, Trafalgar Square Ceremonial Day Event and the UK Broadcast Media Compound in Green Park.

The Wernick Event Hire team had to deal with many logistical problems including road closures, changing of the guard, rehearsals and Security. Mobile trailer units were delivered through the night and a 24 hour call out was required to move portable offices and chemical toilets from location to location at any time. Extra toilets were also provided at request throughout the ceremony at the very last minute.

On the last day of the Jubilee whilst it was still being televised, the Wernick Event Hire team were arranging the logistics of taking everything away.

Rebekah Hanbury, who runs her own event production company was very happy with the Wernick Events team and commented, “Thank you again for being so amazing for the entirety of the Diamond Jubilee. We could not have done it without all your help and flexibility”.

The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is a multinational celebration throughout 2012 marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne.

Royal Lancers Amalgamation.

Royal LancersMay 2nd 2015 saw the amalgamation of the 9th and 12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’) and The Queen’s Royal Lancers at Richmond Castle, North Yorkshire, forming the Army’s new regiment; The Royal Lancers. Despite a challenging site and poor weather on the day, Wernick Events’ efforts ensured a dry visit for the visitors who came to see the military parade, as well as the Queen.

Wernick had to supply temporary covered grandstands with seating capacity for 2,200 people, plus a large platform was erected as a base for a catering marquee. This was a challenging project throughout as much of the structure had to be built on a steep slope, requiring additional sub-structure to compensate for the falling ground.

The event’s Project Officer, Captain James Rickett, commented, “Wernick were the only supplier who showed confidence to manage this challenging project. We wanted a memorable location but the venue of Richmond Castle, at an English Heritage site, meant we would have to overcome many restrictions.“

Jonathan Wernick, who managed the project for Wernick also commented on the site challenges, “The biggest problem was access. The closest lorries could get was the marketplace in the centre of town which was 200 metres away from where the structures were being built. Equipment had to be ‘ferried’ to the build site in the centre of the castle grounds utilising a smaller vehicle. This route required manoeuvring through the historic entrance to the castle, barely wider than the vehicle itself, and this journey had to be completed over 500 times throughout the project”.

Due to the location being an English Heritage site it was not permitted to penetrate the ground by more than 300mm. This prohibited the use of ground anchors in securing the roof covering, so an alterative system was deployed utilising concrete ballast.

Captain Rickett was impressed with the effort from Wernick. He went on, “They really stepped up to the plate. The organisation and planning of their operation was of the gold standard, and we were impressed by how quickly everything was dissembled after the event had finished. After The Queen was confirmed we had to expand on capacity at last minute, we had to extend our capacity by 300 and this again was of no trouble for Wernick.”

Soldiers marched through the town before entering Richmond Castle for the takeover by the new Commanding Officer. The Royal Lancers have historical links to the East Midlands, with the 9th and 12th Regiment mainly recruited from Derbyshire and Leicestershire and the Queen’s Royal Lancers from Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
