“ Throughout the installation the team from SIBCAS were always on hand and responded quickly and efficiently to all request for information, and alterations. We were kept fully informed throughout and the building was even ready ahead of schedule. The on site team understood that we needed to minimise disruption to our patients and they worked with us making suggestions and alternations to their scheme of work to make sure that this was the case. ”
“ Very proactive contractor delivered project on time and on budget despite programme issues as a result of the review of government policy on academies in summer of 2010. Pleasure to work with and would use again. ”
“ The PE Department are delighted with their new environment, being particularly impressed by the space at their disposal and the quality of finish, which exceeded their expectations. ”
To supply a changing facility complete with showers to full DDA2 specification as part of the academy’s expansion of their sports curriculum,
• Size: 24.4m x 9.75m (80’ x 32’)
• Timescale: 2 weeks install. Civils by Cruden Construction.
• Hire Period: 2 year minimum hire period
Changing Rooms complete with showers, toilets and office.
The building had to be delivered and installed within a live to school to very exacting time scales.
As the changing facility was to be sited within the grounds of the new academy, the building was to ‘fit in’ with the surrounding buildings and offer an internal finish to match the quality that the academy already offers. All challenges were accomplished.
The building was delivered on time and on budget, with the academy being very pleased with the finished product.
The PE Department are delighted with their new environment, being particularly impressed by the space at their disposal and the quality of finish, which exceeded their expectations.
THE BRIEF AND METHODOLOGY:
Provide long-term modular accommodation comprising of a state of the art teaching facility.
Size: 2 storey building GIA circa 900m2
Timescale: 6 weeks install.
Modular Building comprising of a large ICT suite, general purpose teaching rooms and a break out study area, complete with full suite of w/c amenities.
Perhaps the most challenging aspect of this project was the size constraints of the site. Every aspect of the modular building’s design was examined to maximise the useable space.
As one would expect from a modern university amenity the fit out was technologically intensive. Working with a detailed performance specification several hi-tech sub-contractors were used to provide the very latest in ICT and BMS systems including: Smart Lighting, Linked and remotely monitored heating systems, remote access control.
The close working relationship between Kier and Portable Building specialist SiBCAS, paid dividends and resulted in a first rate modern modular teaching facility. Needless to say the client and modular building users are delighted with the facility.
Despite operational challenges the project was delivered within the exacting programme with negligible snagging.
To supply and install a modular sports complex for Wasps – one of the best known names in the sport of Rugby Union, whilst they develop a permanent training facility in the Coventry area.
• Size: See attached layout drawing
• Timescale: Installation period approx. 6 weeks
Modular sports building incorporating;
• Cardio Area
• Offices for Coaches and Administration Staff
• Rehab Room
• Treatment Rooms
• Players briefing and video analysis rooms
The complex included a gymnasium area, which required high floor loading capabilities and a 3.0m high ceiling for the free weights section, as well as some of the specialised equipment used by Aviva Premiership side - Wasps Rugby. The robust specification of the modular buildings meant that SiBCAS were one of the few companies that could offer such a facility at short notice.
Due to the restricted area available on the site, and the large number of different rooms required, the modular complex had to be designed extremely carefully to ensure it would fit within the boundaries and the room adjacencies would work as required by the client.
The proposed location was a grassed area, and part of this was a bank which fell away by approx. 2.0m. Due to the challenging topography and the timescales, the client constructed a scaffold gantry system, which the whole modular sports complex was installed onto.
The gym equipment was installed and the client moved their furniture in on schedule, the modular building was handed over to the client’s satisfaction and there was an open day on July 15th to launch the new sports facilities. Honoured guests included Rugby District Mayor and other dignitaries from Wasps Rugby and Broad Street Rfc.
Working in conjunction with Kier Northern – part of one of the UK’s leading construction companies – SiBCAS were selected to supply and install a 2 story modular office building within the car park area at the entrance to the Accident and Emergency Department.
• Size: 40’ x 30’ 2 storey
• Timescale: 4 weeks on site
• Non clinical administration including Offices, Seminar Room, WC, and Kitchen
Due to the location of the building, intricate planning and traffic management was of great importance. The installation took place during the operational hours of the A&E department. Due care and diligence was paramount, with the possibility of ambulances arriving with emergency casualties at any given time, meaning all operations would have to come to a halt until the area was once again clear.
It was a very challenging project immediately outside of the Accident and Emergency department, however, the delivery and installation of each building was carried out in such a way that there was no disturbance to the hospital.
I would like to thank the SiBCAS team for the way they carried out the delivery and installation of the units at York Hospital. It was an extremely difficult operation right in front of the Emergency Department and all deliveries were achieved with no disruption to the hospital or the ED itself.
It just goes to show that all the pre-planning and traffic management systems agreed prior to the works and included within the RAMS were well worth all the time and effort, deliveries on site were timed to the minute.
The Trusts Capital Planning Department, the Emergency Department and Car Parking and Security have all commented on how seamless the works were carried out.

To fabricate and install a double storey modular project office for 150 office staff, complete with internal and external staircases. The modular building needed to cater for all aspects of the project and required the following: reception area, meeting rooms, training room, CCTV room, first aid room, staff canteen and kitchen areas on both levels and toilet facilities, all of which were designed to a specific layout to meet the client’s requirements. The modular building was complete with timed heating and air conditioning.
SiBCAS was also required to deliver a purpose built, anti-vandal gatehouse at the entrance to site, to allow the client to control all security and deliveries on site.
60 No. (9.75m x 3m) modular sections
Size: Double Storey – 91m x 9.75m (300’ x 32’) - Total Area - 1620m2
Timescale: Lead time from placement of order – 8 weeks, installation time – 8 weeks,
hire period – total – 74 weeks
Modular Building to be used as project offices and welfare facilities to deliver the Smart Motorways Scheme on the M1
There were several challenges with this project that SiBCAS had to face;
Firstly the building had to be designed, so that after a 47 week hire period, 24 sections could be easily removed leaving the remaining 36 sections in place for the final 26 weeks of the project. This would leave the client the required space needed for their office staff to comfortably operate, and would also include key areas such as the CCTV room.
Secondly, due to the tight program from placement of order to start on site, SiBCAS had to work very closely with the client to ensure their program of civils work on site fitted in and matched the modular installation schedule.
SiBCAS then introduced an accelerated program and a phased delivery, to ensure that a number of office staff could be accommodated within the first phase part of the building, which was completed and handed over. The office staff could then proceed with their works whilst the second phase of the modular buildings was being installed.
SiBCAS delivered the modular office building on time, to budget and to the client’s full satisfaction.
“Working in tandem with SiBCAS, Costain Galliford Try JV successfully delivered a project hub to accommodate up to 150 staff. Early involvement proved crucial, concluding our design proposing the most efficient layout”.
