Premier Modular completed a contract worth nearly £8m, as part of advanced works for a new super hospital in North Bristol The contract was awarded to Premier by virtue of the quick scheduled 24-week site programme which was only achievable using the company’s modern methods of construction.
Six buildings with over 5000m2 of accommodation were built using the PremierPlus building system with some of the buildings incorporating Premier’s factory installed concrete floor option.
The 127 steel-framed modules were manufactured in Premier’s controlled factory environment and were delivered by road and craned into position ready for the final stages of fitting-out on site.
This process significantly reduced disruption to staff and visitors to the hospital site by reducing site traffic and providing a completed building in a much shorter time frame when compared to traditional building methods.
The buildings included new facilities for MRI, CT and X-ray, 3000m2 kitchen and cafeteria and new pharmacy and aseptic suite including the latest developments in automated picking for a 24hr prescription service. There was also an imaging suite, clinical engineering offices and a pharmacy, with a fully computerised robotic sorting system.
Selected as a preferred supply chain partner for the high quality of their product and process, Premier Modular Limited provided a 206 bedroom student accommodation block, The Foundry.
This high quality 5 storey building situated close to the city centre in Newcastle, consisted of a mixture of 54 studio flats, 150 en-suite bedrooms and 2 accessible en-suite bedrooms with associated shared living spaces and kitchens and was constructed in a 42 week site programme.
Driven by an immovable programme requirement of a September student intake, Premier worked in partnership with the main contractor, efficiently manufacturing 300 modules fully fitted out and decorated in the factory - an excellent demonstration of the enormous time benefits realised by using the Premier off-site system. Significantly the foundations and demolition commenced on site whilst the modules were being manufactured – ensuring no time was wasted in the process.
The construction of the building uses a combination of products from the innovative Premier range, combining light gauge steel frame modules for the bedrooms, with heavier gauge steel modules for the larger open plan communal areas.

Premier transformed an existing 3 storey and 2 storey school building (covering 4,878m2) that was over 10 years’ old into a state of the art welfare facility and project office to accommodate 1200 operatives and 216 staff. This challenging transformation required decorated walls and suspended ceilings throughout, LED lighting, installation of an air-conditioning and heat recovery system. Curtain wall glazing was added to the board room with glazed walls provided for other meeting rooms and high quality floor finishes throughout. A bespoke viewing deck accessible via the Board Room provided the finishing touch to this modern, spacious and inspirational accommodation.
Premier Modular Limited was appointed for the first phase of the prestigious £3bn development at Chelsea Barracks, which has been eagerly awaited by some of the world’s wealthiest. Premier was asked to provide a 3-storey modular building consisting of 94 modules to accommodate welfare and office facilities on a 144 week hire period whilst the main construction works take place.
Premier’s solution was a building to cater for 1,500 operatives and 200 staff which included full medical facilities, canteen, drying rooms, toilets, meeting rooms, open plan offices and a state of the art viewing gallery that overlooks the main work on site.
The modern methods of construction used by Premier meant the building could be installed efficiently and in a good timeframe ready to assist the construction of a long awaited, important development.
Located in one of London’s most sought after postcodes, the development will see a 13-acre property that once housed the Queen’s Guard transformed to include up to 448 houses and flats, public spaces and an array of amenities such as retail areas, restaurants and a state of the art spa. The development of the site is being led by leading real estate company Qatari Dair on behalf of the Qatari Royal Family.

Greater Manchester’s school place problem continues to grow with a 12.5% increase in primary school place requirements from 2013 – 2019 with 1 in 10 infants now being taught in oversized primary classes. So what is the solution?
A phased programme of 10 primary school facilities was awarded to ISG through the North West Construction Hub’s Medium Value Framework, with the Early Years Facility for St Margaret’s being part of Phase 1. Manchester City Council also identified this project to be their first pilot for delivering a project to BIM Level 2, including their first Asset Information Model.
The 775m2 2 storey building provides new nursery facilities and 3 reception classrooms providing bright and airy learning environments for the children to grow and develop. This new facility has allowed the school to expand and accommodate an additional form of entry.
The modules were erected on site within 5 days, thus minimising any disruption to the live school environment, particularly important as the building sits in the existing school playground.
Premier Modular and offsite construction were selected by main contractors ISG Construction due to the tight timescales involved and Premier’s experience in the use of digital construction techniques, enabling the project to be completed within the required timeframe whilst maximising efficiencies.
The project has achieved BREEAM Very Good.
In addition the project was named winner of the Digital Construction Award at the North West Regional Construction Awards, which means the project is also a finalist in the National Constructing Excellence Awards, to be held in November this year.
The close working relationship of all parties involved resulted in the project also being awarded Highly Commended in the Integration and Collaborative Working Category of the NWRCA 2018.
